Our Learning and Development team Our dedicated Learning and Development team will support you from the moment you step through the door and throughout your career with TU. We are a small team of specialists who focus on insurance and claims development through to leadership and management. Beyond what you and your manager agree and plan in your role, learning in Tesco Underwriting can take place in a number of ways â€“ classroom based sessions, e learning, 121 support and coaching and working with external specialists.
Weâ€™re with you from the moment you step through the doorYour induction programme is designed to introduce you to who we are as well as to your new role. Every new employee will take part in a structured introduction to Tesco Underwriting so we can ensure you have the best possible start with us. Weâ€™ll guide you through all aspects of your new role by giving you a thorough understanding of what happens next. Everyone joining our Claims handling team, experienced or not spends a minimum of 6 weeks in induction before taking a call from our customers. We always make sure our approach to your induction is as individual as you, and if youâ€™re heading through our Claims Pod programme, joining your team or heading straight into role there will always be plenty of support available to you.
Taking you further with technical, personal and career development We think that one of the most important aspects of working life is to continually learn and grow. We encourage everyone in TU to take ownership for their own development with our support. During reviews with your manager, your development plan will be discussed to enable you to grow in your role and make sure you get the most from your career. We have plenty of tools and programmes to support you to do this and there will be something that suits your learning style.
Stepping up – developing our leaders The ongoing development of all of our managers and leaders is an essential part of the continued success of our business. We will help you learn to inspire and lead others by understanding yourself, how you relate to the people you work with and how to raise the bar and understand what it takes The ongoing development of all of our managers and leaders is an essential part of the continued success of our business. All our first line managers go through our Leadership Essentials Programme.
Professional Development that supports your career The opportunity for professional development is key to us. We invest heavily right across TU to enable our people to study and achieve professional qualifications that validate their skills and experience. For many this will take the shape of insurance qualifications through the chartered institute â€“ everyone in Claims is invited to consider studying for the Certificate in Insurance after a successful probationary period, more than half of our team have taken this up since we began. We now offer a Diploma in Insurance programme and consider applications for ACII status too. We enjoy strong relationships with both our local institutes in Newcastle and North Downs and a number of colleagues play an active role in their committees and working groups.
We have a significant number of others supported in their professional studies such as Actuarial and Accounting.
